Shakib abstained from Bangladesh’s most recent ODI matches against Zimbabwe and the West Indies, although he captained the team at the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia. While batsmen Najmul Hossain & Yasir Ali also re-joined the one-day squad, players Mosaddek Hossain, Taijul Islam, and Shoriful Islam were left out.
On December, India will visit in Bangladesh for their first bilateral series there since long-time. After the first two ODIs, which are held in Dhaka on December 4 and 7 and Chittagong on December 10, respectively, both teams will play two Test matches. Rain forced a stalemate in the only Test when India last visited Bangladesh, despite the fact that the hosts took the ODI series 2-1.
Three-match series against India
In the ODI team for Bangladesh’s forthcoming three-match series against India; which gets underway on December 4 in Dhaka, Shakib Al Hasan is back. The last time ODI cricket was played, in July-August, the all-rounder had opted out of the team’s white-ball trip to Zimbabwe.
Yasir Ali has also been given a berth in the team in a like-for-like swap with mid batsman Mosaddek Hossain; and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam makes room for Shakib’s reappearance. Shoriful Islam, a quick bowler, has been benched in favour of the brisk Ebadot Hossain; who replaced Shoriful and made his ODI debut in Zimbabwe in the third match.
- Dates for the three ODIs are Dec. 4, Dec. 7, and Dec. 10. Dec
- 14–18 Dec is the first Test, while Dec. 22–26 is the second Test
Shoriful had a terrible time throughout the first two ODIs, just picking up one wicket while conceding 134 runs in 17.4 overs. Mosaddek only participated in one ODI during that tour and was not given the opportunity to bat, but he has subsequently experienced a slump in T20Is, This ended at the most recent T20 World Cup with four straight single-digit scores.
Since the squad does not have room for a third left-arm spinner in addition to Nasum Ahmed and the returning Shakib, Taijul was probably left out of the BCB announcement that named the team. In his third most recent game against the West Indies, Taijul recorded his first ODI five-wicket haul.
It’s also plausible that the selectors left Taijul out in order to save him for the two upcoming Test matches because the ODI series does not count for the World Cup Super League.
In brief
- The three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and India will feature Shakib Al Hasan.
- Shakib Al Hasan was not there for Bangladesh’s final August series against Zimbabwe.
- India and Bangladesh will play three one-day internationals on December 4, 7, and 10.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) picked a 16-man team for the forthcoming three-match 50-over series against India; which gets underway on December 4 at home. Shakib Al Hasan, an all-arounder, has rejoined the ODI team. Shakib skipped the trip to Zimbabwe, where Bangladesh’s most recent ODI series was held, due to personal obligations.
When Shakib was out from the most recent series against Zimbabwe in August, Bangladesh lost the T20 and ODI series. Shakib contributed significantly to Bangladesh’s first victory over South Africa in South Africa prior to the Zimbabwe series with a 64-ball 77.
Later, Bangladesh won the ODI series 2-1 to claim its first victory on South African soil. Mosaddek Hossain, an all-rounder, Shoriful Islam, a pace bowler, and Taijul Islam, a left-arm spinner, were all let go from the team.
Yasir Ali returned to the 50-over format for the series, and bowler Ebadot Hossain was able to preserve his spot after impressing the selectors in his one ODI against Zimbabwe. After initially not being chosen, Ebadot was later included in the squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.
Chief selector Minhajul Abedin stated on Thursday that Shakib’s inclusion in the team “would further strengthen our ODI squad.”

India is a very powerful team, but since we are playing at home, we feel optimistic about our chances. This team could contend with India.
India will play Bangladesh in a bilateral series for the first time since the home team won the match 2-1 in 2015. The teams will do two tests after that.
